+ An update is news from your store: a new release, a sale, what you're working on. It shows on your storefront and on a page of its own. It reaches the people you choose in their notifications, and by email if they get store news. It can be posted in your Discord server too.+ ## Before you start++ - **Who can post:** owners and admins, and staff with **Promote**, which is part of **Settings**. See [Roles and permissions](/wiki/roles-and-permissions).+ - **An open store:** a paused store can't post updates.++ ## Post an update++ 1. In your dashboard, open **Updates**.+ 2. Write a **Title**, then the update itself under **What's new**. Markdown works: bold, lists and links.+ 3. To say which product it's about, pick one under **About a product**. It's shown as a card under the update, with a link to buy it.+ 4. To add a picture, press **Choose from approved** and pick one of your store's approved images. Without one, the product's picture is used.+ 5. Under **Who hears about it**, choose **Followers**, **Followers and customers**, or **Owners of the product**. The last one is there once you've picked a product. Each shows how many people it reaches.+ 6. If your store posts updates in Discord, leave **Also post it in** ticked to post it in your channel too.+ 7. Press **Post update**.++ ## Who hears about it++ - **On your storefront:** your latest three updates show under **Updates**, near the top, with a link to all of them.+ - **Notifications:** everyone in the audience gets one, with the update's title.+ - **Email:** people who get store news by email get it that way too. Each person gets at most two of these emails a day from all stores together, and the rest reach their notifications only. People can turn them off. See [Messages and notifications](/wiki/messages-and-notifications#emails-you-can-turn-off).+ - **Discord:** posted in your updates channel, if you've set one up. See [Post updates in Discord](#post-updates-in-discord).++ Your own team and people you've banned from your store aren't sent it.++ ## Limits++ - You can post 3 updates in any 7 days. **Post an update** shows how many you've used this week, and when you can post the next once you've used them all.+ - Deleted updates still count.+ - An update can't be recalled once it's sent.++ ## Edit or delete an update++ Everything you've sent is under **Posted**, with how many people it reached and how many of those by email.++ - To fix a typo or change the product or picture, press the pencil icon, make your changes, then **Save update**. Nobody is told again.+ - To take one down, press the bin icon, then **Delete**. It comes off your storefront and its page. Anyone who was told about it keeps the notification.++ ## Post updates in Discord++ 1. Link your Discord server. See [Connect your Discord server](/wiki/connect-your-discord-server).+ 2. Open **Settings** → **Integrations** and go to **Updates in Discord**.+ 3. Press **Choose a channel** and pick the channel.++ The bot posts a short message in the channel to say your updates will appear there. That also checks it can post there. From then on, each update is posted with its title, the start of the text, its picture and a **Read on Enviglo** button. Updates never ping anyone.++ If the bot can't post, **Updates in Discord** says so. In Discord, give the bot **View Channel** and **Send Messages** in that channel. On Ultimate with your own bot, updates are posted as your bot. See [Your own Discord bot](/wiki/your-own-discord-bot).++ To stop, press **Change channel** and choose **Don't post in Discord**.++ ## If Enviglo hides an update++ Anyone can report an update that breaks the rules. If the Enviglo team hides it, it comes off your storefront and its page, and shows under **Posted** with the reason. If you think that's wrong, open a support ticket. See [Notices from Enviglo](/wiki/notices-from-enviglo).++ ## Troubleshooting++ - **"You've posted 3 updates this week."** Wait until the time it gives.+ - **"Your store is paused. Open it again to post updates."** Open your store in **Settings** → **Storefront**, then post.+ - **"Choose a picture from your store's approved images."** Pick one with **Choose from approved**. New pictures go up as product images or store branding first.+ - **"That product isn't published in this store."** Only published products can be linked.+ - **Nobody got my update.** Nobody follows your store yet, or nobody owns the product you chose. It's still on your storefront.
